Fabrizio Ferri. Breathtaking

Installation curated by Geraldina Polverelli Ferri and Cristiano Seganfreddo
Produced by Nobile Agency with the scientific collaboration of the Catholic University of Milan

Sanlorenzo, a symbol of culture and craftsmanship in the world of yachting, through Sanlorenzo Arts, presents the installation Breathtaking as the first exhibition project within the spaces of Casa Sanlorenzo, the brand’s new cultural hub in Venice.

The installation, conceived by internationally renowned artist Fabrizio Ferri, is a reflection on the devastating impact of plastics and microplastics in the oceans—an artwork that highlights the strong correlation between marine pollution and its lethal consequences for life itself.

Breathtaking will immerse visitors in the deafening silence of the deep through an intense and engaging setup: a large glass coffin filled with seawater, a powerful symbol of the fragility of aquatic ecosystems and life itself, will be placed at the center of 13 large-scale portraits featuring prominent figures from the world of arts and entertainment such as Willem Dafoe, Sting, Helena Christensen, Misty Copeland, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Gala Gonzalez, Julianne Moore, Bridget Moynahan, Carolyn Murphy, Isabella Rossellini, Susan Sarandon, and Naomi Watts. These portraits will be displayed on a black wall, pierced by raw iron nails.

Marina Abramović contributed to the installation by proposing the recreation of the soundless silence of the ocean depths through the use of noise-canceling headphones.

Organized by Faou Foundation
Supported by Palazzo Diedo, Berggruen Arts & Culture

Palazzo Corner della Ca’ Granda, Venice

Organized by the Faou Foundation in collaboration with Berggruen Arts & Culture, the installation Peace Crystal by artist Mariko Mori was presented at Palazzo Corner della Ca’ Granda in Venice. Inspired by Buddhist philosophy, the crystal symbolizes the body as a vessel for the soul, reflecting life, death, and rebirth. Standing at 167.5 cm—the height of an average modern human—the crystal is delicately balanced on its narrowest point, representing the pivotal moment in human evolution when we first stood upright, a shift Mori believes was key to the development of intelligence and spirituality, enabling humans to draw energy from both celestial and terrestrial sources.

JR. L’Observatoire
A Venice Simplon-Orient-Express carriage, 2024

L’Observatoire by JR is a unique carriage for the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, presented in a floating display during the Venice Biennale. From April 17th to 22nd, the public could peer through eye-shaped portholes and explore JR’s creatively designed interior, inspired by his childhood love of trains, his personal art studio in Paris, astronomical observatories, and the cabinets of curiosity of Renaissance Europe. The carriage blends history and innovation, as JR, the first artist to design a VSOE carriage, used century-old techniques to craft a world of hidden details and imagination. L’Observatoire celebrates the VSOE’s legacy while inviting viewers into an immersive artistic journey.

LUNAJETS

An exclusive series of nightly encounters during Milan’s MIART and Design Week, each pairing an experimental chef with a significant artist in direct dialogue. These curated evenings create privileged moments where signature gastronomy and contemporary art actively interrogate each other, revealing profound aesthetic resonances.

The project investigates how contemporary cuisine transcends mere nourishment to establish itself as an autonomous expressive medium. Within each evening’s collaboration, the culinary act unfolds as a multisensory aesthetic response to artistic concepts—existing in defined space-time and consumed in the moment of its fruition, while conceptually engaging with more permanent artistic expressions. The event will bring together nine of the city’s leading galleries, each presenting an internationally renowned artist, paired with an exceptional chef for nine unique dinners, exploring the dialogue between gastronomy and art.
